Our Team

Dr. Kevin Gee is a native Houstonian who graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1998. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2002. As a student he was involved in various organizations serving the student body as an officer of the Student Texas Optometric Association. He was chosen by his peers to give the student address at their convocation and inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.

After graduating from optometry school Dr. Gee was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Texas A&M College of Medicine and Senior Staff Physician at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas where he focused on the care of patients affected with diabetes, cancer and autoimmune diseases like lupus and Sjogren’s disease. His responsibilities involved the training of medical students and ophthalmology residents at the Scott & White Eye Institute. While in Temple, he served the optometric community of Waco, Temple and Killeen as the president of the Heart of Texas Optometric Society. In 2004 he was included in the “Guide to America’s Top Optometrists” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.

Dr. Gee returned to Houston in 2004 to private practice where he expanded his interests into refractive surgery and cataract care. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry and is involved with sports vision care of athletic teams in the city of Houston. In 2006, Dr. Gee completed his certification in Oklahoma for Anterior Segment Laser Treatment. The Cambridge Who’s Who’s Registry of Executives recognized Dr. Gee in 2007. In 2009, Dr. Gee was named the Young Optometrist of the Year by the Texas Optometric Association and nominated by the American Optometric Association for the same award on the national level. In 2010, he was honored by the American Optometric Association with the appointment to the Meetings Center Executive Committee and he served in that capacity until 2017. Dr. Gee served as President of the Texas Optometric Association in 2013 and served as Consulting Past President in 2015. He is also the Chair of Student Support and a formerly chaired the Continuing Education Committees. Dr. Gee is Co-Chair for the Texas Optometric Association Association Support Committee and Chair of the Meetings Committee currently.  He has served on the Legal and Legislative Committee as well. In 2011 Dr. Gee completed and successfully passed the American Board of Optometry Board Certification examination and now is distinguished as a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and was a former board member of the local optometric society.

Dr. Gee has given lectures to various groups entitled: “Ocular Urgencies and Emergencies”, “Optometry in the Ophthalmology Practice”, “I Wore My Contact Lenses and Now My Eyes Are RED!”, and “Optometric Care of the Diabetic Patient”, “Preparing the Ocular Surface”, “Eyecare of the School Aged Child, Know When to Hold ’em and Know When to Fold ’em”, “The New Age of Patient Communication”, “Meibomian Gland Dysfunction: a New Look at Dry Eye”, “The Human Amnion; Ocular Applications for Amniotic Membranes”, to name a few. Dr. Gee travels throughout the country lecturing on behalf of various companies and products he endorses. Early in his career, he shared his experiences with his peers and authored the cover story to the publication new OD entitled, “Get an Early Start on Your Career”. In 2013 he was named an Optometric Business Innovator by Vision Monday and Review of Optometric Management. He was a contributing columnist to the “Technology Column” in Optometric Management.

As a member of the community, Dr. Gee supports all the local elementary, middle and high schools. A proud sponsor of Scanlan Oaks, Sienna Crossing, Schiff, Baines and Ridge Point, Dr. Gee has served on the Campus Based Leadership Teams of Scanlan Oaks and Ridge Point. He enjoys sponsoring and mentoring all activities from sports, dance and charitable organizations. Away from the office, Dr. Gee is a huge fan of the Houston Astros and University of Houston Athletics. He is a writing instrument collector and glasses collector as well. In his spare time, he plays the saxophone and is fascinated by gadgets of all types!

Dr. Thuria Younis spent her early years in Irvine, California, before relocating to Houston in 2008. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, along with concentrations in Chemistry and Health. While applying for graduate school, she began working at Gee Eye Care as an optometric assistant to Dr. Kevin Gee. Her passion for optometry grew and she continued working at the practice for several years throughout her winter and summer vacations during optometry school.

She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During her optometric training, Dr. Younis explored a wide range of specialties. Completing clinical rotations with Dr. Gee, she was able to further expand her knowledge of ocular disease, with a special emphasis on ocular surface disease, such as dry eyes, and the multitude of treatment options available.

Completing another clinical rotation at a community clinic, Dr. Younis served the underprivileged population through emergent eye care, surgical co-management, and developed treatments with primary care physicians to treat the systemic diseases that have adverse effects on the eyes.

During her time in optometry school, she was involved in the Student Texas Optometric Association, American Optometric Student Association, and the Student Optometric Practice Management Association. Dr. Younis is licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.
In her free time, Dr. Younis enjoys traveling and exploring new restaurants. She also enjoys volunteering and spending time with her friends and family. She is ecstatic to return home to her Gee Eye Care family!

Sarah was born and raised in Houston (and super proud of it). She is always looking to add to her glasses collection and is happy to help you find your favs too! Sarah also enjoys reading, playing video games, and taking care of her four pet chickens in her free time.

Vy was born in New Orleans and lived there until Hurricane Katrina hit. After the storm, she moved through a couple of cities in Texas. For college, she settled in Houston and attended the University of Houston, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In her free time, Vy enjoys writing, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. She is also a big adrenaline junkie and has a goal of going to all the theme parks throughout the world one day to experience every coaster there is!

Ali was born and raised in San Antonio. He moved to Houston in 2021 where he graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minored in Public Health. Ali describes himself as an optimistic individual and enjoys volunteering to have a positive impact on the community that he resides in. In his time away from the office he enjoys lifting weights and playing recreational basketball.

Kalyce relocated to Houston as a baby and considers herself a native Houstonian. She is a Pre-Optometry student at the University of Houston, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology.  She enjoys traveling and the arts.

Sarah was born and raised in New York until 2018, when she moved to Houston. She currently attends the University of Houston, and is majoring in Biology with a minor in Business Administration. She enjoys music, sleeping, and having fun with friends and family.

Jonathan Chau graduated from the University of Houston with a BS in Biology and a minor in Math. Originally from San  Antonio, he enjoys hiking on trails, basketball, watching anime, and napping with Josh Rosen (his cat).

Larose grew up in Fort Worth until she moved to Houston in 2020 to attend the University of Houston where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemical and Biophysical Sciences. Larose says her favorite part of work is meeting new people and hearing their stories. In her free time, she loves cooking new recipes and trying new restaurants with friends.
